Feng Shui isn’t just about furniture placement or pretty interiors.
With its origins in ancient Chinese philosophy, this practice is centred on creating spaces where energy feels balanced and supportive.
In modern life, that translates to homes that calm the mind, lift the mood, and nurture wellbeing.
Suzanne Butler explains how, with just a few thoughtful adjustments, you can avoid the energy imbalances that quietly affect health and happiness.
The art of harmonising energy flow within a space, plays a crucial role in the wellness of its inhabitants.
Poor energy in a home can affect everything from physical health to emotional well-being.
Understanding key Feng Shui principles and adjusting in key areas can drastically improve the energy and
prevent imbalances that harm your health.
Here are 3 tips to focus on in your home
Bed Position Matters
Ideally, your bed should be positioned in a “commanding position,” meaning you can see the door without being
directly in line with it, while also being supported by a solid wall behind you.
Avoid placing your bed under a window or directly opposite a door, to avoid disrupted sleep, anxiety, or even physical
health issues like headaches.
And for those looking for a new love make sure that there are no remnants or reminders from your past lurking around!
Salt Water Cures
A salt water cure is a classic Feng Shui “remedy” that soaks up and neutralises negative or stagnant energy in a space.
It’s like an energetic detox jar for your home.
These inexpensive and easy cures are a great way to improve the energies in your environment, and are super fun to watch activate. ·
Take a jam jar, mason jar or a small glass container.
Fill ¾ of the way with salt – Celtic or Himalayan rock salt is the best.
On the top place 6 Chinese coins with the ‘busiest side up” in a circle on the salt.
Then fill with filtered water.
Place them around your home in 9 separate areas and watch them go to work.
Please do ensure you pop them on a plate so they do not damage furniture as some can activate like crazy.
Keep them topped up with water and remove them at Chinese New Year.
Don’t try and recycle (which is why jam jars are a good option), and don’t touch them.
Pick them up wearing a glove and straight into the bin bag.
They can be placed in cupboards and away from small fingers.
Addressing Specific Areas & Their Health Impacts
The Bagua map divides your home into nine areas, each corresponding to a different aspect of life, including health, wealth, relationships, and career.
All areas can have a direct impact on your physical health, particularly when they are unbalanced or cluttered.
Here are three examples:
The North – Career and Life Path:
The North governs imbalances that affect your kidneys, bladder, and reproductive system.
Incorporating elements like water, which is associated with this sector, can also encourage vitality and balance.
The Northwest – Helpful People and Travel:
The Northwest governs the health of the head, lungs, and large intestine.
It could lead to respiratory issues, digestive concerns, or tension in the head area.
Keep this zone clear and energised by adding metallic elements, such as metal sculptures or frames, to enhance energy flow.
This also promotes clarity of thought and supports your physical health.
The South West – Love and Relationships:
The Southwest, outside of romantic relationships also governs things to do with the woman of the home, especially
around fertility and reproductive cycles.
If you are trying to fall pregnant but it is a struggle and there seems to be no physical reason, look to this area and
see what might be going against you.
Earthy tones are appropriate for this area.
Integrating these Feng Shui tips into your home, you’ll create a balanced, harmonious environment that nurtures both the body and mind.
A little attention to detail can go a long way in transforming your space into one that supports optimal health and wellness.
